RECITATION SUGGESTIONS

1. Prepare questions in advance in the sequence in which they will be presented.

2. Use questions that require sentence or phrase responses.

3. State the question to the class, and then call on a specific student for a response.

4. Give everyone a chance to answer questions. Avoid asking only the brighter students to answer questions.

5. Acknowledge incorrect responses by asking another student to provide the answer. Do not ridicule or chastise students who give incorrect responses.

6. Ask another student to add to incomplete or partially correct responses.

7. Repeat the responses to all questions so that all students can hear what has been said.

8. There should be proper leadership to guide the discussion and to keep it on the track.

9. Before we start discussion, proper planning must be done. If this is not adhered to, we shall arrive no where.

10. Everyone in the group be given the opportunity to talk. Even those adults who are of shy nature be compelled to participate in it. It should not be monopolized by any one.

11. The discussion must remain a formal affair. It should never be allowed to become informal.

12. To avoid pooling of ignorance, we must have an expert associated with the discussion. The expert be from the field or be connected with the subject under discussion.
