7.3 Usability:
It is the characteristic of a test to fulfil following practical consideration.
1. Time for Administration:
The shorter test are favoured but they have how reliability. A safe procedures is to allot as much time as is necessary to obtain valid and reliable results. Some where between 20-60 minutes of testing time is probably a fairly good guile.
- Ease of Administration:
A test will be easy to administer when
(I)Directions will be simple and clear.
(ii) Sub-tests will be few.
Time of test will be suitable.
The complicated directions, a number of sub-tests and short time adversly affect the validity and reliability of a test.
- Ease of Scoring:
Those tests are favoured that offer ease and economy of scoring without sacrificing scoring accuracy.
- Ease of Interpretation:
When the test results are presented to the pupils or parents, ease of interpretation and application are especially important. If results are correctly interpreted, they contribute in important educational decisions.
- Availability of Equivalent Forms:
Equivalent forms of a test measure the same aspect of beahvior by using test items that are alike in contents, difficulty level and other characteristics. The equivalent forms of a test are often desireable e.g; if a teacher may feel that score of a student in an achievement test is very low, he may easily check by administering the equivalent form.
6. Cost of Testing:
Test should be economical but sacrificing valid and reliable test of being high cost and selecting cheaper tests is false economy.
