7.1.4 Mechanism of Curriculum Development in Pakistan

Whenever it is intended to frame or revise curriculum, the curriculum wing send the proposal to provincial curriculum bureau/centers. These bureau/centers develop or revise the curriculum in the light of the frame work provided by curriculum wing

In the provincial centers committees do the revision or framing the curriculum. The committees usually comprise subject specialists of persons with pedagogical skills. To draft curriculum is sent to the curriculum wing, Ministry of Education for their consideration and approval,

In the curriculum wing, the draft curriculum on each subject received from provincial bureaus/ centers is put up to the concerned national review committee. This committee is usually constituted for each subject and comprises the nominees of provincial government and subject specialists considered suitable for the purpose.

The curriculum finalized by national review committee is put up to the secretary education for approval. The approved curriculum is sent to text book board for the productions of text books.
